About the Author
Dougal Dixon graduated from the University of St Andrews with a Master of Science degree in 1972. He began his career as a geological consultant, nurturing a special interest in fossils and evolution. As a practical geologist, he was involved in excavating a dinosaur-rich site in Jurassic rocks at Durlston on the Dorset coast in 1987. He is now a full-time writer specializing in earth sciences and has written many children's books and encyclopedias with a special interest in dinosaurs.

Book is comprehensive and includes great illustrations

My son is learning about dinosaurs, and this is a good, comprehensive book that describes the variety of dinosaurs that lived long ago. The book goes into great detail about the different periods that dinosaurs lived from, and categorizes the dinosaurs based on which period they lived in. It describes the different habits of the dinosaurs and what they ate. The book is extremely colorful, and provides great illustrations to help my son learn the different types of dinosaurs, and where/when they lived.The book provides maps and timelines to assist my son in gaining a better understanding of dinosaurs. This book is a great learning tool, and I would highly recommend this book for any kiddo wanting to learn more about dinosaurs.

My 9Yr old is a dinosaur fanatic. We got this for his birthday. He uses this as his reference. Great book with lots of info. Depends on the child as to what age to buy for. Its more teenage/adult reading. Would recommend and buy again. Fast shipping and perfect condition.
