Not for introducing a new baby- instead is a guide for being a big sister in general

I bought this to help prepare our toddler for being a big sister. It doesn't mention anything about parents bringing home a new baby. Instead it shows how she enjoys helping being a big sister in general (to a preschool & older toddler brother). A cute book, but not quite what I was hoping for/ expecting.

We bought this for our 6 year old Daughter when we announced she was going to be a big sister. She loved this book, we have read a few times already. I think she will be more interested in them as the due date approaches.

Our family really enjoyed this book. It worked so well for our family as my daughter is the oldest with a younger brother and another on the way. Which is the same as Olivia and her family. The humor is great and even my husband and I enjoy reading it to them. My daughter brings up stuff from the book often. Definitely recommend.

Microsoft's SQL Server Analysis Services 2012 Multidimensional is an OLAP server that allows end users to analyze large amounts of business data quickly and easily, using a variety of tools including Excel, and to create their own reports without IT involvement. It is part of the Microsoft SQL Server suite of tools and has been used widely on Business Intelligence projects for the last 15 years; it is now the most commonly used OLAP server in the world.

The book starts off with a discussion of data warehouse design and how it relates to Analysis Services. Following on from that, best practices relating to Analysis Services cube and dimension design are covered, including topics such as optimizing dimension attribute relationships and handling fact tables that contain data at different granularities.

Next, the book looks at using MDX to implement common business calculations, and then moves on to more advanced problems like currency conversion calculations and creating a date tool dimensions.

Finally security, performance tuning, automation of administrative tasks and monitoring usage and performance each get their own chapter and subject such as dynamic security roles, using Profiler to diagnose query performance problems and automating partition creation are also dealt with.

Marco Russo is a Business Intelligence consultant and mentor. He has particular competence and experience in sectors such as financial services (including complex OLAP designs in the banking area), manufacturing, gambling, and commercial distribution. Great insight into a big problem in the Church

I enjoyed this book very much. It was honest and real. My only differing comment would be that when dealing with Church leadership and God's mandate, you cannot agree to disagree because then you are still in disagreement and therefore not in unity. And that does not work.

Grade 9 Up—Daelyn Rice has been bullied her entire life, whether it was for her past weight problem or because she currently does not talk and wears a neck brace. She has attempted suicide several times in several different ways and is now more determined than ever to end her life. Daelyn discovers a Web site called Through-the-Light, which is for suicide "completers." There she communicates with others who share the same goal. The members share stories of bullying, molestation, etc., and encourage each other's ultimate goal. Meanwhile, Daelyn meets a boy named Santana. She wants nothing to do with him; his presence and determination to draw her out of her shell only annoy her. Over time and as new information surfaces (he has cancer), however, she finds herself drawn to him. Will their connection be enough to make Daelyn realize that her life is worth living? Readers are left not knowing what she will do. This novel is disturbing in that the teen bluntly discusses her desire to kill herself with little to no emotion. She has a plan, and she is eager to carry it out. Also upsetting are the suicide methods that are explicitly detailed on Through-the-Light. However, Santana's presence is welcome, as he softens the unsettling subject matter. This book is definitely worth the read, but for older, more seasoned teens.—Sarah K. Whoa! What an amazing read

I was not expecting this, specially in such a short read. This book is so harsh. And raw. And wrong. And cruel. And depressing. And sick. Oh, and I loved, loved, loved it. Even though my stomach sometimes didn't. I had physical ache while reading, that's how amazing it was. Seriously, I believe every person alive should read it. If you dare to read something so heart-wrenching that will most likely stick with you. It leaves a great message.

The world is a freaking messed up place, no need to hide that. This may be a hard read, but only because it's so real that it hurts. The characters in the book were magnificent. The guy, Santana, I've never been so in love with a realistic-fiction character before. I wanted to tear him out of the book. He will steal your heart and keep it. The writing was good, felt awkward at times, but worked perfectly.

If you think you can take reading about bullying and suicide (Bullycide) you must go pick this up right now. If you read Hate List (Jennifer Brown) and liked it, I think you will find this one really interesting too.

Daelyn has suffered major psychological damage from years of being bullied. The torment and embarrassment she received because of her weight started her downhill slide into despair. She has lost her desire to live and failed at several attempts to end her life. Her latest failure has left her unable to talk and on 24-hour suicide watch. Her parents barely trust her to go to school.

Daelyn is biding her time. She only has 23 days until her Date of Determination. She discovers the Through the Light website by accident, but finds it to be a welcome change of pace compared to the other suicide websites and discussion boards she's visited in the past. Instead of preaching and warning her against her decision, the website provides rational and informational posts and discussions about ending her life.

BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS, I'LL BE DEAD is a powerful and heart-wrenching story of one girl as she makes the hardest decisions of her life. How will she end her life and what will she do with her last 23 days?

Daelyn thinks she has it all figured out until she meets a strange boy while she waits for her parents to pick her up after school. Santana is persistent when it comes to making friends with Daelyn, but with only 23 days to live does she really have time?

This is a short book at only 198 pages. It is easily a one-sitting read and well worth the time. The author, Julie Anne Peters, also includes a lot of factual information at the back of the book. There are 19 Discussion Questions as well as sections about Bullying, Suicide, Warning Signs, and Prevention Hot Line Information.

Your heart will break for Daelyn and the ending is thought-provoking.

Raw and Unsettling, Realistic and Beautiful

First Sentence: The white boy, the skinny, tall boy with shocking white hair, sneaks behind the stone bench and leans against the tree trunk.

How I Acquired the Book: I borrowed a digital copy from my library and read it on my iPad.

The Review: I'd like to begin this review by telling you that this book swept me off my feet. And it didn't even take vampires, fallen angels or werewolves to do that. No, all it took was an amazing protagonist, a great love-interest-but-not-supposed-to-be-love-interest, and some of the most heart-wrenching scenes I have ever read.

Daelyn Rice wants to die. She has attempted and failed at suicide before, but when she finds through-the-light.com, she knows that everything is going to change. Through The Light is a suicide's dream website: the rules state that no one can post anything to discourage people from killing themselves, and people share their horrifying experiences in life as well as ways to kill yourself. Everyone on the website has a Day of Determination: the day when they will finally kill themselves. When the book begins, Daelyn has 23 days to go. And then we start counting down...and down...and down...

This book has haunted me for the past four weeks. I wasn't originally planning on writing a review for this, but changed my mind after I kept thinking about Daelyn. Some scenes in this book will stay with me forever. I don't even want to spoil the slightest detail for you, but let me just say that some parts of it are almost horror-fiction like. And yet, we see that these details are necessary, as we glimpse into Daelyn's life. These scenes make the book so emotionally charged, I wanted to cry. So much. Who knew you could stuff so much emotion into 200 pages?

I am shocked that this novel is not so popular, as another suicide novel, Thirteen Reasons Why, seemed to be read by everyone. This novel should be more popular. This book should be required reading for all middle and high school students, because it will change their lives, even though some are reluctant to admit that. You may scoff at people who say they're going to kill themselves. After you read this, you will never think like that again. Daelyn's story is raw and unsettling. It is realistic and beautiful, harrowing and haunting, and it will stay with you forever.

Not a surprise it's constantly checked out and waitlisted

I've had to search numerous large University libraries for a copy of this book, and all copies seem to be perpetually checked out (some for months at a time). It isn't much of a surprise considering this is an excellent primer for microwave engineering and RF circuit design. The derivations are well laid out and the majority of each chapter's formulas are displayed in a nice tabular format every few pages.
It's a must have for any elec student (or physicist) that's interested in microwave engineering, RF circuit design and electromagnetic waves.

A must have for RF Engineering Students

I was first introduced to this book through my professor. After reading this book I had a very good understanding of the material: wave guides, networks, S-parameters, filters, impedence matching, and transmission lines. This book does it all. It is an excellent introductory to intermediate book on Microwave engineering. You can understand the book entirely without getting lost in theory. Pozar does a good job at not confusing the reader, and it provides some real world examples that help the user relate. I myself go to GA Tech, and I recommend any electrical engineering student who is interested in electromagnetics or RF engineering to buy this book. If only because the GA Tech Library only has one copy and it is always checked out.

excellent introductory text on microwave engineering.

This text make you wish human clonation could be performed on mr Pozar to clarify many subjects in eletronics-electromagnetics.The author makes a very good job of explaning both the theory and the applications in the microwave engineering area.His explanations are very clear and he takes always the most straightforward path for reaching the final formula.Only (very relative) weakness is the lack of a satisfyng theory about microstrip impedance.I think this book is a must for any newcomer to the microwave field .5 stars!

About the Author
Carol Ann Tomlinson s career as an educator includes 21 years as a public school teacher. She taught in high school, preschool, and middle school, and worked with heterogeneous classes as well as special classes for students identified as gifted and students with learning difficulties. Her public school career also included 12 years as a program administrator of special services for advanced and struggling learners. She was Virginia s Teacher of the Year in 1974. She is professor of educational leadership, foundations, and policy at the University of Virginia s Curry School of Education; a researcher for the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented; a codirector of the University of Virginia s Summer Institute on Academic Diversity; and president of the National Association for Gifted Children. Special interests throughout her career have included curriculum and instruction for advanced learners and struggling learners, effective instruction in heterogeneous settings, and bridging the fields of general education and gifted education. She is author of over 100 articles, book chapters, books, and other professional development materials, including How to Differentiate Instruction in Mixed-Ability Classrooms, The Differentiated Classroom: Responding to the Needs of All Learners, Leadership for Differentiated Schools and Classrooms, the facilitator s guide for the video staff development sets called Differentiating Instruction, and At Work in the Differentiated Classroom, as well as a professional inquiry kit on differentiation. She works throughout the United States and abroad with teachers whose goal is to develop more responsive heterogeneous classrooms.

Kay Brimijoin is currently associate professor and chair of the Education Department at Sweet Briar College in central Virginia, where she helped launch a master s program in differentiated curriculum and instruction and teaches courses on curriculum and instruction, assessment, literacy development, and student teaching. After 20 years of K-12 classroom teaching experience and school administration, Brimijoin completed her PhD in educational psychology with concentrations in gifted education and curriculum and instruction at the University of Virginia. She has received awards on curriculum design, research and evaluation, and distinguished dissertation work from the National Association for Gifted Children. She co-authored "The Differentiated School" in 2008 (ASCD) and a unit in "Differentiation in Practice: Grades 9-12 i"n 2005 (ASCD). Brimijoin has authored numerous articles and co-authored a 2003 review of the literature supporting differentiation. From 2000-2006 Brimijoin was a member of the ASCD Differentiation Faculty Cadre and continues to consult with schools across the country on differentiation, curriculum design, gifted education, and teacher education.

Not for students who know little about the subject

This is probably a very good book for the school principals and administrators if they want to implentment the program and want to know how to do it exactly. It is NOT a good book for students who have no background on the subject and want to know more about what differentiation is. This book never clearly define what differentiation is. It is very confusing to students. It goes right into implementation. Points are not clearly lay out (author used a lot of paragarphs and chapters to explain what the schools did). 3 out of 4 students in my small group hated this book. It includes a lot of sample worksheet for school administrators.

I borrowed the previous edition to take a look and found that it is a much better book for education majors. It talks about things in teachers' perspective. This edition talks thing in school administrators' perspective.

A must for any school administrator or thinker on educational studies

Excellent resource for any school. Provides practical and theoretical approaches to understanding how to impact learning for all students. The text analyzes two extremely different schools and tracks the process under second-order change.
